What I Do

Our focus is to try and get A&M in the news, and one way to do that is through research. We're a heavy research institution, one of the top 20 research budgets in the country. We try to do stories on projects that we think the media would be interested in and that people would want to know about. That's what pretty much consumes my day: putting those stories out and putting them in a good enough package form, sometimes with video and art, photographs, to get reporters from national and international outlets interested in it

My Texas A&M Story

I was the news and PR director at Baylor, and I came here 15 years ago. I'm starting my 32nd year in college PR. I have a news background: I was a sports reporter for 10 years in Waco, so I've always liked anything to do with the media. I've been a news junkie all my life. I taught journalism at Baylor for six years, and I taught here at A&M for five. The good thing about news is that it's always changing: no two days are really alike, and that's always been one of the appeals to me. There's always lots of challenges out there. My wife taught school for 36 years, and she's retired now. We've got two grandkids that we're trying our best to keep very spoiled rotten, and our weekends are consumed with grandkids.
