Internal Communications Community of Practice
For university marketing and communications professionals to connect and learn about internal communications resources.
In our monthly office hours, we will discuss the different channels available, the best practices for each, what to avoid and overall, provide an opportunity to bring questions forward to help bolster your toolkit for supporting awareness of important initiatives among our internal audiences.
Hosted on the first Wednesday of each month (unless it is a university holiday), we will rotate key topics and offer flexibility in the second half hour to troubleshoot, answer questions and identify ways to support your needs.
Topics will range from policies, guidelines and requirements to content strategy, accessibility and best practices for internal email communications, digital signage, the Texas A&M mobile app, the university calendar, Texas A&M at Work and more. If you have immediate questions or need support, please contact our Enterprise Communications team at digitalexperience@tamu.edu.
Internal Communications Community of Practice
Internal communications covers a wide array of responsibilities and expectations among our faculty, staff, students and even external affiliates, and we are here to help. In our monthly office hours, we will discuss the different channels available, the best practices for each, what to avoid and overall, provide an opportunity to bring questions forward to help bolster your toolkit for supporting awareness of important initiatives among our internal audiences.
Community Resources
Creating consistency in how communications are distributed with faculty, staff and students begins here. From forced-send emails and templated newsletters to campus event invitations, requirements for building and distributing mass emails and other internal communications for the university community are outlined.
All official university units have access to Texas A&M University’s official calendar for posting university-led or -sponsored events and activities. Learn the specifics on how to best approach event postings, from imagery and location details to the summary and full description fields, by referencing best practices and requirements.
With more than 450 screens (and increasing!) across our campuses and teaching sites, digital signage provides an additional channel to showcase content. Templates with plug-and-play elements to ensure content displays correctly are provided, along with best practices and more.
With three different user personas — employees, students and visitors — the Texas A&M mobile app offers a dynamic channel where information is tailored using integrated content from official university websites and organized with the user experience in mind.
