The Division of Marketing and Communications (Central MarComm) Internal Communications Team, directly supported by the Digital Experience Team, partners with academic, operational and administrative units across Texas A&M University to distribute timely, relevant information to the university community. Through communication planning, coordination of mass emails and storytelling, the internal communications team strives to enhance employees’ understanding of Texas A&M’s priorities while showcasing the work of fellow faculty and staff and ensuring that needs and concerns are heard and shared appropriately.

The following communications channels serve as the primary avenues for sharing important updates for faculty and staff.

Texas A&M at Work

Texas A&M at Work serves as the central source for timely university news and updates while also celebrating faculty and staff contributions that align with the mission of our land-, sea- and space-grant institution. Content shared is intended to enhance the work experience for employees — providing context and updates on presidential priorities, health and wellness initiatives, upcoming events, and other administrative and operational items of importance.

Texas A&M at Work Biweekly Updates: Texas A&M at Work includes a direct email sent to employees each Tuesday and Friday morning during the spring and fall semesters, and each Tuesday morning during the shorter summer semesters. These direct emails include features that showcase life as a member of our university community, the perks of working at Texas A&M and aggregate announcements that would have otherwise been sent to all employees as individual mass emails. This content will also live on a new Texas A&M at Work website next spring. University Calendar

Calendar.tamu.edu is where all university-sponsored or -led events are listed. Each Marketing and Communications team lead at Texas A&M has the opportunity to share approved events with their respective calendar group and submit a request for approved events to be shared with the university’s main calendar.

Texas A&M Official Mobile App

With three different user personas — employee, student and visitor — the Texas A&M mobile app offers a communications channel where information is tailored using integrated content from the university’s website and organized with the user experience in mind. The app also offers banners and push notifications to help bring timely updates to respective audiences.

Communications and mass email planning, including opt-lists

The Internal Communications Team partners with administrative, operational and academic units to plan communications and mass emails for the university community (all faculty/staff, all faculty/students or all staff/students). Each marketing and communications community lead and their designee(s) have the opportunity to send mass emails to faculty, staff and/or students within their senior leader’s direct reporting structure.

Mass emails that include distribution to all faculty and staff, all faculty and students, all staff and students, or all faculty, staff and students are supported by the Central MarComm Internal Communications Team.

Texas A&M’s mass email policy parameters require a mass email to meet at least one of the following criteria and examples are noted below each:

  • Deemed essential by a university official
    • George Strait to Perform at Kyle Field
    • Texas A&M Names Permanent Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President
  • Critical, time-sensitive and/or germane to Texas A&M’s mission
    • Harrington Education Center is Closed for HVAC Repairs
  • Address an issue of campus safety or health
    • Campus wildlife: proper precautions
    • Texas A&M’s Annual Emergency Plans and Procedures Advisory
  • Address a recommended or required action that applies to most
    • You’re Invited: Presidential Investiture

For communications that are not administrative or operational in nature, there are two opt-lists that may be used — student interest and employee interest. Types of communications usually shared via the opt-lists include, but are not limited to, research participation opportunities, student organization events and similar promotional-type communications.
